Our topic for the first show is ‘Composition’. Regardless of what you shoot with, be it a camera phone or high-end DSLR, or anything in between, your composition will still make or break your shot.
Awesome first episode Bart! Mark mentioned that I told him he only takes good photos because he lives in such a beautiful place. Remember this is coming from the same annoying woman who told Don McAllister that the only reason his podcast is successful is because of his adorable British accent! So you’re in good company with my playful jibes…
Mark and Bart were talking about Mark’s tulip shots and how getting under them and seeing the light through them made so much of a better photograph. Bart and Mark taught me this a few years ago and here’s my favorite illustration of what I learned. In the first shot you’ll see the gorgeous cacophony of color from the orange poppies and the purple lupines. But it’s not a photograph you’d write home about:

But in the next image I got down under the poppies and with the sun coming through the flowers and got one of my favorite photos I’ve ever taken:

thanks for the instructions boys, great show!
Thanks for the nice review Allison. Those poppy photos are great examples of one of the topics we covered in this episode.
